TCAF 2025 Recap

I had a table at TCAF this year! Every time I've done so in the past I leave feeling optimistic and re-energized (which is frankly something in light of current events).

I met tons of new people, saw old friends, and past students who are finding their footing in this world! I'm always taken aback by how generous people are with their time and energy, and I'm reminded to try my best to return that energy into the world.

Some people and events of note: I had the best table neighbours in Alec Valerius and Nick O'Gorman.

A little further afield, I met Angela Pan and Aline Tysoe, whose work I've been following for years, and Hartley Lin, whose Young Frances is one of my favourite works of comic fiction ever. I picked up Meaghan Carter's Iron Barge, which I'm very excited to gift to my adventure-and-animal-loving nieces.

It was great to re-connect with Adam of Kingston Nexus - I was able to stop by after the show and it's such a lovely shop and community hub, I highly recommend stopping in if you're in Kingston, ON!

On the unfortunate side, I meant to pick up Linnea Sterte's World Heist from PEOW and by the time I got to the table they were selling the display copy!! It's extra dumb of me, because three years ago I was the one desperately buying the display copy of A Frog in the Fall. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson then.

Such is life, but I DID pick up the insane Cry Punch anthology from Al Gofa and Maxime Gérin!

I'm undoubtedly forgetting so much in my jumble of memories - I should have kept running notes over the weekend but alas, I did not.

Some photos from the weekend and days after -

I missed the Reference Library venue but a hockey rink's not bad!

On the way back, we stopped into the Big Apple (if you're driven the 401 west of Toronto you'll know). They have a good apple fritter and you can actually go in the apple, which houses a lot of scaffolding and terrifying statues. If nobody has ever filmed an action sequence in this thing, they should.
